COMMUNITY SERVICE
Community Service
"From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life"-- Arthur Ashe.
DTEA shares Ashe's vision of using tennis as the vehicle for teaching kids how to be good people and community servants. We believe that instilling a culture of giving and sharing are key in helping children grow to be leaders in their communities and abroad. At DTEA, serving the community is a shared commitment-- youth, parents, and staff are responsible for giving back.
Youth in our competitive, year-round programs are required to complete 60 yearly community service hours within the organization and beyond to learn the importance of giving back. Students have the opportunity to be creative in how they serve others: from mentoring less experienced DTEA players or lending a hand at an adaptive site, to helping clean up our environment and feeding our neighbors in need.
